Who are we?

A family-run nursery and Christmas tree plantation

We are a long-established local small family-run tree and shrub nursery and Christmas tree plantation in Blackrod, near to Bolton, Chorley and Wigan in Lancashire. We are acknowledged specialist and experienced growers of hardy plants.

Our range includes hedging plants at all sizes (Hedging Conifers, Fir Trees, Laurels and Portuguese Laurels, Hawthorn, Privet, Griselinia and more). Also stocked are Ornamental and Fruit Trees, Border and Container Plants and Bushes.

You can inspect all our stock before purchase, open to all – the general public, farmers, builders, contractors and landscapers. And we freely provide any technical information required. All welcome. Or ring us any time! Check out our Tips and Advice page.

What we do

Premium quality hedging and other nursery stock

From our Lancashire base, The Tree Barn grows premium quality instant hedging plants, ornamental dwarf and intermediate-size conifers and other specimen plants – available all year round.

Hedging plants are available as bare-root plants in Autumn and Winter months and pot-grown varieties throughout the year.

We also offer a plant delivery and hedge planting service by our experienced and recommended gardening partners.

Container-grown Christmas trees

We grow a wide range of Christmas trees – both in the field and in containers. Our container grown trees are available throughout the year – becoming increasingly popular as being both sustainable and eco-friendly. Our container grown trees are ideally suitable to be in-doors for 2 – 3 weeks over Christmas then taken outside for either planting in the garden or kept growing on in containers. Must keep well-watered!

During the festive season we offer a Christmas tree reservation service where you can choose your ideal Christmas tree from the field for cutting later. Your tree will therefore be fresh when taken in-doors for decorating.
